President Obama states, “We’re becoming a global leader in solar”

President Obama delivered his 2014 State of the Union address on Tuesday night and addressed many concerns. A new addition to the oration this year was the mention of the booming solar industry and America’s new position as a global leader in solar.

Obama spoke of oil and natural gas production growing in America, which has been stated countless times before. But this year was different. He has added solar to the list, “we’re becoming a global leader in solar, too.” Solar and other renewable energy sources are usually shrouded by news of the production of oil and natural gas. This nationwide recognition of the growing solar industry has been long overdue.

Obama stated that our commitment to American energy is one of the biggest factors in bringing more jobs back. According to Obama, solar panels will be installed by a worker “whose job can’t be outsourced.” As demand for physical labor rises in the industry, solar will employ more Americans. The American solar industry employs 120,000 workers and is one of the fastest-growing industries. So fast that, according to Obama, another American home or business goes solar every four minutes.

As solar is allowing these homeowners and business owners to become more energy independent, America as a nation is closer to energy independence than we’ve been in decades. Obama wrapped up the topic by affirming that “our energy policy is creating jobs and leading to a cleaner, safer planet.”

Clean Solar is proud to be part of the solar revolution of creating thousands of jobs for American workers as well as allowing homeowners to become more energy independent by producing their own solar power.
